What do I need to get started?

A Brevo account with an MCP server API key, and Claude Code. Most Claude Code surfaces need a Claude subscription or an Anthropic Console account.

Can my team share the setup?

Yes. Add the server with project scope and Claude Code stores it in .mcp.json at the project root. The file supports ${VAR} environment variables, so you can share the config without committing your token.

Will all those tools fill up my context?

Claude Code's tool search is on by default, so only tool names and server instructions load at session start. For a smaller tool set, connect one module instead, for example https://mcp.brevo.com/v1/brevo_contacts/mcp.

Can I search the Brevo docs without an API key?

Yes. Run claude mcp add --transport http --scope user brevo-docs https://developers.brevo.com/_mcp/server. This docs server is read-only and never touches your Brevo account.

The Brevo tools don't show up. What now?

Restart Claude Code completely and validate your JSON config. If authentication fails, check that your token is active and that the header reads Bearer followed by your token. If you see Command not found: npx, install Node.js.

What happens to my data?

Your MCP token grants full read and write access to your Brevo account, so store it securely. Anthropic also advises you to verify that you trust each server before you connect it. Read how Brevo handles personal data under the GDPR.
